2.
Starting off with the new rims you would like to add to your car. Using
the Pen Tool (press P) carefully select around the wheel. Here's my
selection.
3.
Now go to the Paths pallete, right click on your Work Path, and select
Make Selection with 0 radius and anti-aliased checked.
4. It should select your wheel, press Ctrl + x to cut it out.
5.
Now switch back to your car picture, and press Ctrl + v to paste it
down. Move it off to the side for now, and switch back to the original
layer with the car on it. Zoom into 500-600%.
6. Using the Pen
Tool again, cut out the old wheel. Finish your path. Goto the Paths
palette, right click on the Work Path, and select Make Selection as
before.
7. This time press the Delete key on your keyboard to
delete the selection. Now it's time to make your new wheel fit! Make
sure the wheel layer is behind the layer with the car on it. And move
it roughly on top of the hole.
8.
If your new wheel is clearly too big like mine is, with the wheel layer
selected hit Ctrl + T (to transform it). Now hold down shift to
maintain proportions and make your wheel smaller.
9. Still
doesn't look right? Using either the Pen Tool as mentioned before or
more simply, the Lasso tool cut out some more space around the wheel
cavity, and press delete. This will enable more of your new wheel to
show.
10. Finally, if your wheel does not look correct with the back one, then use Edit
> Transform > Skew and/or Edit > Transform > Perspective. Play around with those until you find something that fits.
11.
And here is my finished car with the new front rim! I had it looking
good, but the more i played with it, the worse it got. Anyway, enjoy!
