1. Open up a WHITE 650(width) x 150(length) document for the header.
2. Select a nice dark color with a dark gray, I chose (B01717) for my dark color and (3F3F3F) for my dark gray. Now create a new layer and select the gradient tool with these settings.
3. Now from the top of the whole canvas area, click and drag all the way to the bottom and you should have something like this if you used the colors I mentioned in Step2.
4. Now with the dark gray as your background color, press X to change the dark red to dark gray. Use the dark gray to make a three-lined border around the top piece of the image.
5. Now use the gray lines as a guide, create a new layer and use the rectangular marquee tool to select the bottom piece below the gray lines. Choose a nice dark gray, or even black to fill in the bottom part of the image.
6. Here comes the detailing part, Select the custom shape tool. ( By pressing U on the keyboard. ) Pick a real simple shape and create a new layer, once you have chosen a shape, click on the Pen tool and right click the selection you made with the custom tool and go to " Make Selection. " Once that's complete, color it white and then add a simple reflection to it if you want. ( Duplicating the layer and flipping the duplicated layer vertically and changing the opacity will add a nice sharp reflection. )
7. You're pretty much done, add a few text to the top and bottom pieces of the header and it should look like this!
