Do the same process for these smaller cells.  Create a new layer and fill it for each.

To get these different 'cells' (I'll call them. You can do a lot of duplication of smaller cells and Shift Moving to get them in place. Use the guidelines to place these equidistance apart. Or you could create one middle column and get a rectangular marquee to make edit: cuts by right clicking and layer via cut to put different sectors onto their own independent layer from the original.

 

Whichever method you use you want to end up with equally sized middle cells. Remember you can also edit: cut and transform to get them down to size. Solid fills won't look funny when you transform them in out of scaled proportions.

 

 

Use the guidelines and ruler measurements until you come up with something like this. You want to make sure that they are equidistant apart. If you're producing a design that will be seen by 1,000's or millions of people then there is no room for mistakes. But now you should understand the basics and that you may have to put some quality time into the actual layout.

So we've got these independent layer cells..what do we do with them now? We have them there so they can each work as a clipping group. What you can do now is pull in some awesome production stills that would tie in to the movie or design theme (mine are pretty random). Bring them in from other open documents with the moVe tool and then Scale them down until they are slightly larger than the cell you are going to clip it into. You should probably have the layer behind the cell OR you could lower the opacity of the bitmap layer on top of the cell so you can see what you are doing.  Make sure you put the image layer (bitmap) on top of the shape fill cell in the layers palette and then clip.
