Hello dear Photoshop lovers, today we are going to create an awesome Grass Menu, just a few easy steps and an awesome result, let?s begin.
Step 1:
Make a new white Background 400x250 pixels document, we are going to create a big menu for instructional purposes only, you can make it little or giant if you want, but for learning we suggest this size.
Step 2:
Select your Rounded Rectangle Tool...
And draw one like ours, we are using a very dark Green for it (5a4929)
Step 3:
Holding CTRL click your layer?s icon (see screen cap) to select the shape of it.
Step 4:
Select your Brush Tool, on your Tool?s menu...
Now go to the Brush Presets icon...
And finally choose the Brush N. 112
Magic time!, go to the Shape Dynamics options and get our values to make it look like real grass for our Grass Menu, watch carefully the settings:
Step 5:
Now you got to choose to tones of Green one for your Foreground and one for your Background, we have chosen a Dark Green (2b592e) for the Foreground, and a Light one (a0c772) for the Background. The grass is going to look realistic with these colors.
Step 6:
Now proceed and paint the selection like us, it?s going to look like this:
Step 7:
Now Right Click on your Rectangle layer (Shape 1) and select the Duplicate Layer option, repeat this three times, now that you got four rectangles just move them in Menu way, your pic should look like this by now:
Step 8:
Now make your Brush smaller (Master Diameter) because we are going to paint the borders now.
Remember that you have to Fill the borders in the RESPECTIVE LAYER of the different rectangles, for example for the first Rectangle (Shape 1) you should first select the Shape 1 layer and then fill it.
Alright so be very carefully filling the Borders, try to make then irregular so the whole menu would look more realistic. Now that it?s done your Grass Menu is looking great uh?
Step 9:
Now type the text that you want in every Button of the menu, we are using a nice rounded font called ?Food?; you can get it for free here! (The first one on the list).
Step 10:
Alright so now you have to clean up your Layers, you have to put the Text layers that you have made above their respective rectangle; for example the Home text layer above the Shape 1 layer, got the point?
Now you have to change the Blending Mode of your text layers, select one by one and change the Blending Mode to Soft Light.
Your Grass Menu it?s DONE!
We have connected them with more Grass for this just use your Brush Tool again and it will look totally great, you can use this menu for gardening/natural sites, or for any design that you want!
If you like the overall effect you should also try the Wild Grass Text Tutorial.
