1. The first step is to make a background for the Ad Banner, I just used a #008fd0 to #004f7c gradient.
Next thing to do is make a new layer. Now with the Pen Tool
create a wavy path like so:
With the Pen Tool still selected, right click the path and turn it into a selection (Make Selection)
2. With your selection still active, draw a #b5d0e1 to #50738a gradient inside of the selection.
Apply the following layer styles to this layer:
Now you should be left with a result like so:
Not bad hey?
3. Create a new layer on top of the palette, now make a selection half the height of the document, but all of the width.
Make sure you're on a new layer then drag a White to Transparent gradient from the top to the bottom of the selection.
Now change the blending mode for this layer to Soft Light and lower the opacity to 40%.
4. Create a new layer then get the Rounded Rectangle Tool ..
Use a radius of 8 px and make a rounded selection in the middle of the document at the bottom like so:
Apply these layer styles to this rectangle layer:
Now you should have a result like so:
5. For text in the rounded rectangle I used Tahoma, 11pt, No Anti-Aliasing, with these layer styles:
Now you should be left with text like this:
The text I used in the curved area on the left was Helvetica Neue LT Std, 18 & 24pt, #dfeaf0, with these layer modes:
Now you should be left with something similar to this:
6. That's just about it, you can add or customize anything you want. Ad Banners are really quite easy to make with Photoshop too.
The last thing I added was some text on the right and an inner stroke.
