Author: Vecpix.com More by this author

Select a brush from one of the various brush libraries available from Illustrator 9 or make your own. I chose the star pattern and changed the color.

Make sure the stars are selected then open up Edit>Expand Appearance.

Delete the blank <path> layer at the bottom. You've just deleted that Path. Select the first layer, the original one and select Release to Layers.

Export to Photoshop. Check Write Nested Layers.

Open up Image Ready. Open up the file. You should see separate layers for each star.

In Image Ready, click on the arrow and select Make Frames From Layers.

You should see each star on it's separate frame. Click the arrow button to watch it play.
