There are several methods of removing a colour cast from an image and perhaps the simplest is the Auto Color command found under the Image Adjustment menu in Photoshop 7. However there is also a very simple way of removing any colour cast which we can use whilst checking the Levels.

As we can see from our image there are no true blacks even though it was a black train and the image is looking a little flat. This was very much a grab shot but all is not lost as we can correct our image in Photoshop.

Looking to create a new image why not try blending two images together using the Paste Into tool.
First select the two images that we wish to use, the main image plus the background image or second image. Name the images so you don't get confused between the two.
