Desaturate and lighten an image.

 image 1 Open the image for editing.

 image 2 Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J) and set the layers blending mode to "Screen".

 image 3 Desaturate (Ctrl+Shift+U).

 Auto FX Color Bleach Rollover the image in this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
