This is crunk, or cool! Take your text from 2D to 3D, then open blending options and play with gradient overlay to give it the look of steel.
This also works on logo's and other stuff, but I will teach you, how to do it with text. It really looks real!

This tutorial will teach you how to make 3D text with Photoshop.
1. We would start with a simple New File of 280X150 pixels. Press D to set up the background and foreground colors to default...
1. Make a new RGB image. I used the dimensions of 260 x 260 in the example. Click on Filter > Render > 3D Transform.
2. To start making cubes, click on the Cube Tool. Make a cube depending on the size of your image...
1. Create a new project (I used 10x10 cm). Color the background black.
2. Now, make a new layer (Shift+Ctrl+N). Then you go to Filter-->Reder-->3d Transform...
3. Make a random selection of forms. Now rotate the selection a 180 degrees...
To install it, make sure Photoshop is closed. Go to your original installation package (in my case the Creative Suite, Premium Edition) and insert the 'Resources and Extras' cd. Browse to '(Drive Letter):GoodiesPhotoshop CSOptional Plug-InsFilters' folder and copy the '3D Transform.8BF' file.....
