Creating Light Ray Effect
In this logo we'll create a light ray effect. Basically we want an effect in which there is a light zoom behind the actual logo. Such effect look good on dark backgrounds with font in bright color.

Make a new document, let's say 800x800 pixels and fill it with black.
Write a large text with white. I've chosen "Electric" with impact font, size 120 pts.
Go to Layer > Rasterize > Type to the layer with the text on it...
Make a new document 1000x1000 with black background.
Using the text tool, write whatever you want with white color (I am using "photoshop" for this tutorial) with Arial black 100 pt. Right click on it and choos "Rasterize type"
Select a dark gray (#2f2f2f) for your foreground color...

Start by opening a new file. Type the text with a bold font like arial black or impact.
Ctrl+Click the layer to get the selection of the text.
Press Ctrl+Alt+D to apply feather the edges.
Ok very simple blood effect on text instead of trying to find a font that looks like blood becasue they are all rather lame and no realistic
