In this tutorial you will learn how to make a nice clean usebar.
Open a new file and use these settings:
Next in the new document select the colors that you want your gradient to be like. Usually choose that match the render or icon you are using. For example if you are making a spiderman usebar choose basic orange and white. Anyway this is what i have so far:
Next we need scan lines, these make the sig stand out a lot but needs an extra step.
Open a new document 6x6 pixels and take out your pencil tool. Yes, I know this is small... So zoom in it to the limit.
Place the pencil in the lower left corner like this:
Draw a line diagonally across the square like this:
Now go to Edit, define pattern and when it asks for a name, name it scanlines.
Note: scan lines should be drawn to a new layer.
Now go back to your original document. select the pattern stamp tool, select scan lines and drag it across your bar like this:
The lines are way too bold and strong so we will simply turn down the opacity to 20-40% or per wish.
Now for the picture to be pasted as I am making a knuckles sig, obviously I'll put in knuckles photo/render.
Put your render layer on the top and now for some text. I suggest you to use the font "Visitor". you can get it from dafont.com/en/ Then set a 1 pixel stroke to your text, here is what I have so far:
Next we need to add a curve. Select the elliptical marquee tool by right clicking on the marquee tool an deselect a section going from top corner to top corner and almost reaching the middle of the sig in the center.
Now fill your selection with white and fiddle with the opacity and fill until you get the desired effect. I got an effect as below. Make sure this selection layer goes above all of the other layers in the layer palette.
Now just add a 1 pixel border and you're done with one nice looking usebar. Here is my final result:

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.
