Clip Notes


Step1:

Create a new image 800 by 600 and set the background color to white. Create a new layer, Layer > New > Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N).

Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool image 1 and create the rectangle below.

Click on the Paint Bucket image 3 and fill the selection with this color: fcfc8e. Now click on the Chop Tool image 4 , with this tool selected right click on the yellow paper and click on Free Transform.

Rotate the paper to the left this will give you the effect below. When you are satisfied press Enter.

Right click on the paper layer and click Blending Options and add the setting below.

Click ok, when you are finished.

Step2:

Now we will add the paper clip. Click on Custom Shape Tool and select the paper clip shape image 9 . Create a new layer, Layer > New > Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Change the foreground to white and draw a paper clip as shown in the image below.

Right click on the paper clip layer and click Blending Options and add the setting below.

Click ok, when you are finished.

At this point your image should look like the image below.

Now click on the Chop Tool image 13 , with this tool selected right click on the paper Clip and click on Free Transform. Hold Shift and rotate the paper clip to the left as shown in the image below.

Now we need to delete part of the paper clip to get the right effect. First duplicate the paper clip layer, we are doing this in case the original is damaged.  Duplicate the paper clip layer by right clicking on the layer and click Duplicate Layer as shown in the image below.

Click on the eye next to the layer to hide the original layer.

Click on the Erase Tool image 16 , set the Mode to Brush and the brush size to about 5 pixels. I used the Diamond Brush

Zoom into the clip and start erasing take your time.
