Lets create a folder icon or logo for your next website graphics requirement. I have used the following tools to prepare this Adobe photoshop tutorial for you. Pen tool , Dodge tool , Elliptical marquee tool, Polygonal Lasso tool, Gradient tool.
1. Start by creating a new document, well I guess you knew that much :-)
2. New document.
3. Using pen tool I will create a new shape as shown. After that right click on it and choose make selection and press ok.
4. Using Gradient tool fill the shape with colors ( # A43A1A, # E49F8A, #B76248. ) and then press (Ctrl+D).
5. Let me use the Dodge tool now to give some variation. Select Dodge tool (Brush size 20, Range is midtones, Exposure is 47 ). I have tried to show what I am doing with dodge tool, see red arrows.
6. Drawing a new shape as show below using pen tool.
7. After that right click on the new shape and choose make selection and press ok.
8. Choose the previous layer and press Delete.
9. Double click on deleted layer and give Inner Shadow blending option.
10. Creating another new layer.
11. Now same as step 7. create a shape and fill it with gradient tool.
12. Go to toolbar and select Marquee tool and then right click and select stroke. choose 3px stroke and press ok.
13. Drawing a new shape as show below using pen tool. After that right click on the new shape and choose make selection and press ok.
14. Fill with Gradient tool. and press (Ctrl + D) and press ok.
15. Now lets work with layer 4.
16. Drawing a new shape as show below using pen tool.
17. After that right click on the new shape and choose make selection and press ok.
18. Press delete on the layer which we selected in above step.
19. Give inner shadow blending option by double clicking on the layer.
20. Create one more new layer, call it 5.
21. Using Gradient tool, fill the color.
22. Drawing a new shape as show below using pen tool. After that right click on the new shape and choose make selection and press ok.
