Drawing a Stamp (Exclusive Tutorial)

In this lesson you will learn how to draw a stamp.

Create a new document with the size 271-180 pixels.

Select Rectangle Tool (U) image 1 and draw a rectangle.

image 2

Then in the upper panel, select Subtract from Shape Area

image 3

then select Ellipse Tool (U) image 4 and make a circle, pressing Shift (to make the circle evenly rounded).

image 5

Using the Path Selection Tool (A)

image 6

press Alt and drag the shape a bit downward, making sure that the circles are identical to one another.

image 7

Within a short time you should have something like this picture.

image 8

Change the color to white and add the Drop Shadow and Stoke effect.

Now call Blend Mode:

  • Multiply
  • Opacity:37%
  • Distance:5px
  • Spread:0%
  • Size:5px

image 9

In Stroke set the

  • Size:1 px
  • Opacity:12%

image 10

You should get this sort of picture.

image 11

Next, move on to the drawing the edges of the stamp. Select Rectangle Tool (U) image 1 , and draw a rectangle (I used #2962FF color).

image 13

Then select Pen Tool(P) image 14 and draw the figure (without transgressing the borders of your rectangle), giving your drawing the form of a wave.

image 15

image 16

image 17

The drawing complete, add the gradient effect to it. For this you need to select gradient overlay in the layers panel. The settings remain the same; you will change only the color according to your taste (I used #6FD1FF and #B1F1FD).

image 18

The stamp looks a bit empty; it has no distinction. Choose Ellipse Tool(U) image 4 and make a circle in which you can make a notch, which is done in the same way as when making the edges of the stamp.

image 20

Choose Subtract from shape area

image 3

then Ellipse Tool to form a circle.

image 22

Now you need to decrease brightness. For this in Layers Pannel set Fill-53%.

image 23

Here is what you should get.

image 24

Next make a highlight on the stamp. To do this you need to select the image by clicking (ctrl+clik) on the current layer in the layers panel.

image 25

Then select the Lasso Tool(L) image 26 and pressing Alt cut a piece.

image 27

Then select the Gradient Tool(G) and make a gradient beneath this layer (I used #FFFFFF and #2962FF colors).

image 28

Here’s what you get.

image 29

Here’s the final result with background.

image 30

Here is an example of how to use this stamp for the creation of other icons. See this tutorial to learn how to make it.
