Drawing Loupe

1. Hey, I'am back. This time I bring to you again a useful method to create things of the everyday life. A loupe.

2. I have to say that this method isn't the only way to create things like that. When you are an advanced photoshoper you should use selections and the Channels palette. But I decide to explain it this way because it's very simple:-)

3. Here we go. Create a new document 500 to 300 Pixel. Make a new layer. Call this layer "Outercircle".

4. Make an elliptical selection while holding down shift. Fill this layer with white.

5. Go to Select-Modify and contract the selection with 8. Delete the selected area. Stop the selection and click again on your layer "Outercircle" while holding down Ctrl to select the new area.

6. Press G and take the Gradient Tool(White to Black). Fill your selection with the gradient. Watch my picture.

7. Now press W for the Magic Wand Tool and click in the circle in order to get a new smaller selection then the "Outercircle". Make a new Layer called Inner circle and fill your selection with white.

8. Select-Modify-Contract your selection by 4 and delete the new selection.

9. O.K. Repeat step 6 but this time the other way around. :-)

10. Very nice! Make a new layer(called "Hand") below the first two layers. Fill with white. Take the Elliptical Marquee Tool and make a selection on the right end. Watch my picture.

11. Fill the small selection with white. Click on the Layer "Hand" while holding down Ctrl to get the new selection.

12. Take the Reflected Gradient Tool and draw from the middle to the outer parts.

13. Go to Edit-Transform-Perspective and Edit the picture like I've done.

14. O. K. Now modify your "Hand" Layer a little bit. Maybe with the Burn Tool but at least edit the curves.

image 9

15. Last step press Ctrl L to open Levels and optimize the Brightness and the Contrast. Merge all layers together. And you are hardly ready.

16. That's the result. Here is one method to use it.

17. Paste a nice picture of your choice below the loupe. Chose a point to zoom on and turn your loupe around.

18. Take the Magic Wand Tool and make a selection into the loupe. Go to to Filters-Distort-Spherize: Amount=100

19. Last step. Make a new layer a take the Radial Gradient Tool(White to Transparent)

20. Watch my picture. Contract you're ready.
