Fern Leaves


1. Make a new document. Use whatever color you want for the background, I used #333333.

2. Make a new Layer and select the Custom Shape Tool:

I used the Fern Custom Shape:

Hold shift while making the fern shape. This will ensure it will be 100% accurate.

3. Now we want to duplicate the fern layer. So right click the layer go to Duplicate. Select the new layer. Go to Edit>Transform>Rotate 180. You will now need to select the move tool, move the duplicated fern so it attaches to the other fern like:

Ok you got them together now. Select the very top Fern Layer and press CNTRL+E to emerge the 2 fern layers together. Now we can go ahead and add the detail to the fern.

4. Right click the fern layer and go to blending options. Apply all these blending options as follows:

I used Slate as my texture....
