Fruit Basket Logo


This Photoshop tutorial teaches you to create a fruit basket logo for your website. The dimensions used in this tutorial is : width 300px, height 300px and resolution 72px. This tutorial demonstrates the use of Pen Tool, Elliptical Marquee Tool and you will also learn a technique to create Sun rays. At the end of this tutorial you will be able to create your own logos like the one shown below using some simple techniques.

Fruit Basket Logo Tutorial: Final Result

Start by creating a new Document of dimension 300x300px with white background color.

Creating the Vector Rays : Set the foreground color to # e8d3a5. Draw one ray using the Pen tool image 2 . Name the layer as rays.

Press Ctrl+T (Free Transform). Change the rotation point from center to right-center (marked in red).

Enter a value for angle as 15 and press enter twice.

Press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+T a few times until the shape is completed.

Creating a basket : Set the foreground color to #a7905a and draw the basket using the Pen Tool (P) image 7 .

Double click on the basket layer in the layers palette and select the Stroke option from the layer style window. Set the stroke color to #8a7545, size 1px and position outside.

Creating the Fruits in the Basket : Set the foreground color to #ffcc01. Draw the first fruit using the pen tool (P) image 10 , name it as pear and position it below the basket layer.

Double click on the basket layer in the layers palette and select the Stroke option from the layer style window. Set the stroke color to #ffffff, size 1px and position outside.

Second Fruit: Set the foreground color to # fe7300. Draw the shape shown on the image below using the pen tool (P) image 13 .

Right click on the Pear layer in the layers palette and select ‘Copy Layer Style’, then right click on the shape1 layer and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Draw the second lobe for the fruit using pen tool (P) image 18 as shown in the image below and right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Draw the third lobe for the fruit using pen tool (P) image 20 as shown in the image below and right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Draw the fourth lobe for the fruit using pen tool (P) image 22 as shown in the image below and right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Select the brush tool image 24 , set the diameter as 1px and draw the shape as shown in the image below and right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Third Fruit : Set the foreground color to # da2900. Draw the shape shown on the image below using the pen tool (P) image 26 , right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Draw the next shape shown on the image below using the pen tool (P) image 28 , right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Cherry fruits : Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) image 30 , set the foreground color to #af0505, create a new layer and draw the cherry. Name the layer as cherry1.

Right click on the cherry1 layer and select ‘Duplicate Layer’. Repeat this step, so that you get 2 more cherries. Name the layers as cherry2 and cherry3 and position it as shown in the image below:

Grapes : Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) image 34 , set the foreground color to #6702c2, create a new layer and draw the grape. Name the layer as grape1.

Select the brush tool image 36 , set the diameter as 1px and create a small stroke as shown in the image below and right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Press Shift and click on the grape1 layer. Right click in the layers palette and select ‘Merge Layers’.

Right click on the grape1 layer in the layers palette and select ‘Duplicate Layer…’. Select grape1copy layer, click ctrl + T and rotate the grape slightly and position it as shown in the image below. You can as well increase / decrease the size of the grape by pressing shift and dragging on the sides. Press enter twice.

Repeat the above step 8 times so that you have a bunch of 10 grapes. Position them as shown in the image:

Stalks and Leaves for the fruits : Set the foreground color to # 4cbc12. Select the brush tool image 41 , set the diameter as 1px and draw the stalk for the cherry1. Right click on the layer in the layers palette and select ‘Paste Layer Style’.

Likewise draw the stalks for the other 2 cherries as shown in the image below:

Change the foreground color to #005d09. Select the brush tool image 44 , set the diameter as 1px and draw some strokes as shown in the image below.

Change the foreground color to # 4cbc12and draw some strokes as shown in the image below.

Next Using Pen tool (P) image 47 we will create some leaves. Set the foreground color to # 248e04 and draw the leaf as shown in the image.

Change the foreground color to #9dde22 and draw the first lobe for the second leaf as shown in the image below:

Change the foreground color to #6fc134 and draw the last leaf using the pen tool (P) image 51 .

Gradient Background : Create a new layer below the rays layer. Select the Gradient Tool (G) image 53 from the Tool bar. Click on the edit Gradient image 54 to open the Gradient Editor. Set the color from #ffffff to # fce8a3 and click OK.

Select the Radial Gradient image 56 from the gradient options. Place the cursor on the center of the rays and drag towards the bottom of the document as shown in the image below:

Now that we have created the logo, next we will type some name for the company. Select the Text Tool image 58 and in the text options select the font family as Liffey Script SF (You can use any font of your choice), set the font size as 60pt and the color as #da2900. Type the word ‘Fruit’.

Change the font color in the text options bar to #248e04 and type the word ‘Shoppe’.
