Step 1: Creating the Workspace:
Begin with a 200 x 100 Document and make the background colour white (#FFFFFF)
Step 2: Creating the base layer:
Once you have your document sorted out make a new layer and then grab the rectangular marquee tool and make a selection like this:
Once you have your square selection fo to Select > Modify > Smooth and make the smooth selection 10 pixels:
Once you have clicked OK on the smooth selection window your square should look something like this!:
Now on your new circle shape right click within the selection lines and click fill. Don't worry about the colour! This is only going to be used for a temporary reason!
Step 3: Apply some filters:
Like I said fill it with any colour because now we are about to change it to a smooth gradient! On the circle layer right click and select blending options. Look for the Gradient overlay option and tick the box and apply these colours!:
Next lets apply a stroke around the actual button. Tick the box next to stroke in the blending options menu and apply these settings:
Finally to finish the blending options bit off we are going to add a drop shadow for maximum effect. Tick the box next to drop shadow in the blending options menu and apply these settings:
Now our button after all of that should look something like this!:
Step 4: Making the Gloss Selection
Now to gloss it up a bit! Make a new layer and grab your elliptical marquee tool and make a selection over your button shape like this:
Right click within the circle selection and click fill. Fill it in with White (#FFFFFF) After doing this you should end up with something like this:
Go to your layers panel on the layer that has this newly created circle on it lower the opacity to about 41% Once you have done that you should get something link this!:
Finally let's add some text on this button! Get the text tool and add what ever text you want! Here's my final result!:
