Glossy Globe


To begin, I googled "globe", saved and resized to what you see below.

Next, using the "Eliptical Marquee Tool" create a selection as I have done below. Create a new layer a name it "Gloss". Make certain that white is the foreground color and select the "Gradient Tool". Select "Foreground to Transparent" as your gradient. Start at the very top of the selection and drag using the "Shift" key on the keyboard, to the very bottom of the selection.

Deselect your selection and you should have the following image.

Now "Ctrl" click the globe layer to create a selection and create a new layer once again. Change the "Blending Mode" to "Color Dodge" and Grab the "Brush Tool." At a size of about 45 and hardness at 0%, and foreground color 393D7C, brush near the bottom and right side of the selection.

Deselect and you should now have the following:

Create a new layer and draw out yet another selection using the "Eliptical Marquee Tool". Now go to the main menu and click "Select" then "Feather". Set the Radius at 1 pixel and click "OK". Fill with Black and deselect.

You should now have the following:

Now right click the globe layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Outer Glow".

You may now click "OK."

The Results!!!
