Create a new image. I chose 500 x 500 pixels.
Create a new layer (CTRL+SHIFT+N)
Make a perfect circle by using the Elliptical Marquee Tool and hold SHIFT. Fill this circle with any color you want. I chose #e18921.
Create another perfect circle using the same technique as before, but make it smaller than the first circle. Place this in the middle of the original circle and press DELETE.
Make a new layer, and using the Polygonal Lasso Tool to create a large spike coming off the top right corner of your circle. Make sure that the edges coming off of the circle are perfectly straight. One line should come from the top going to the right, and the other from the bottom right going up at about 45 degrees.
On a new layer create another perfect circle about 2/3 of the way up the spike and make sure it does not go protrude from the spike at all. Fill this circle with you're base color. (#e18921 for me) After you have done this go back to the spike layer, and erase all of the spike above and to the right of the circle, but make sure the perimeter lines stay straight. (Just make it similar to mine)
Now that you have created the frame of the logo it is time for the fun! Place an image, or text in the center of your circle.
Now to finish it off put a letter, or number in the top right of your logo.
Hint: Take a little bit more time on the angle of the lines and distance of the top right circle. I decided to do this at random and it took me only 30 minutes for the entire tutorial.
