How To Make A Dragon Ball

Hei, a little fun today, we are going to make a "Dragon Ball", from the animated series "Dragon Ball".

Step 1:

Make a 300x300 pixels new document and select White as Background.

No choose the Ellipse Tool, to make a nice circle.

Step 2:

More or less on the center of your new document draw a perfect circle (holding Shift), right click your circle layer and choose "Rasterize layer".

Your Dragon Ball is going to look like this:

Note: Right now the color is not important; we are going to change it later.

Step 3:

Now, probably your circle layer is named "shape 1", it's not necessary but just to keep everything clean we are going to rename it (double click on the "shape 1" layer) "Ball".

Step 4:

Let's move on, Right Click - Blending Options, on your "Ball" layer.

We are going to use Bevel And Emboss and Gradient Overlay to make the right effect, so take a close look to the screen caps bellow, and don't miss a thing.

Select Bevel And Emboss and put the following values.

Now Gradient Overlay and once again, check out the values.

For the Gradient Overlay colors, we are using a Two Colors Gradient with two tones of orange, a light one (f4ba3c), and a dark one (de6810). As always you can tweak a little the colors here and get different results.

Step 5:

Select the Custom Shape Tool, and in the top menu called "Shape" select the star shape.

Note: If you can't find the star shape and don't know how to load it, just press the little right arrow, and select "All".

Step 6:

Time to create the red little star, just use your Custom Shape Tool, and hold Shift while you are drawing the star, we are using a dark red (ba3333) for it.

Step 7:

This is probably the harder step to explain, we are going to make the little glows of the Dragon Ball.

Choose you Pen Tool, and draw some shining glows like the following ones, try to copy them, or feel free to put all your creativity on. We are using a Pale White (f0ae6a) color.

Alright!, now you got your Dragon Ball, you can make the 7 Dragon Balls, just Duplicate (Right Click - Duplicate on the star layer) the red little star and that's all, have fun.
