Light In The Darkness Effect


Create a new document 600x450px, apply Radial Gradient like the picture below:

Create a rectangle selection and create a new layer, continue to use Gradient tool with information above (Linear Mode) to drag a gradient like the picture below

Press Ctrl+Shift+I to inverse selection, continue to use Gradient tool with information above (Linear Mode), select Reverse and drag a gradient in a new layer:

Duplicate layer 2 and change Mode: soft light for layer 2 copy then move it down a bit:

Go to Filter / Blur / Motion Blur:

You will get:

Create a new layer and fill it with black color, use Rectangular Marquee to draw a selection then go to Select / Feather: 50 or 60px then press Delete a few times

Open a desk lamp picture and cut it out of background

Move the desk lamp to this file and fill it with black color, you will get result:

Use Polygonal Lasso to draw a selection like this:

Fill selection with white color in a new layer

Adjust Opacity 10, 20% and use Blur tool to make opaque sides of selection

Change blending mode: Screen, create a layer mask like this:

Type some text that you like:

We group all the layers without text to a new group then rasterize text (right click on text layer, select Rasterize)

Use Rectangular Marquee to make a selection around P letter

Press Ctrl+Shift+J to move P letter to new layer

Now we have 2 layers, thelam layer and P layer:

This step we apply Layer Style to 2 text layers, you will do like the pictures below:

The result of this step:

Now we will make the shadow for text, we do for "thelam" first, duplicate layer then Transform Flip Vertical

Go to Layer Style of this layer, select Layer Mask Hides Effect and Vector Mask Hides Effect:

Create a new layer mask, gradient from white to black, adjust 10,20% and apply this step to P layer too

Use Single pixel Rectangle Marquee tool to make 1 line like this:

Create a new layer mask with Radial Gradient ( Black to White )

Create a new layer and fill the color like the picture below (mode=Multiply)

Merge all layers

Use Ellipse Marquee to draw this selection

Press Ctrl+L to open Levels:
