Metal Effect

To do this you will need to of created the two styles found in Metal Effect Part 1, And be bale to create a screw (See the screw tutorial)

Once you have created the two styles.

Open up a new document. I used 300x300.

create a new layer, fill it black and then

Draw out a simple shape using the polygon lasso tool. and fill it white.

Apply the metal 1 style we created to this layer.

Duplicate this layer and apply the metal 1 bevel style to it.

Now we have a our basic metal object.

create a new layer, call it screw, and draw your screw.

hold down ctrl and click on the screw layer. this will select any thing visible on that layer.

now let go of ctrl and click on the layer with the metal 1 bevel, and press delete.

because of the bevel we applied you get a nice dent on the metal.

You may want to add a drop shadow to the screw. here are the setting I used, but have a play around with the setting to see what you think looks good.

Here is the screw with the applied shadow.

just repeat the steps for each screw.

And that is one way of making your screws look like they are part of the interface or object.
