Photoshop Burnt Letter


This is my second tutorial, so please give me some feedback. I'm writing this to explain the process in making simple burnt paper. So, let's begin, shall we?

First create a blank document. I'm going to use 300 x 300.

1. Select the Rectangle Tool, and make a square that covers an ok proportion of the box. Make sure you're making a new layer for the shape.

The color I used was #DFD027.

2. Use the pen tool to make some triangles, set it so it creates new layers,

3. Once you're happy with the triangles create a layer and send it below all the shapes and layers. Merge all of the layers into the new layer.

4. Now, take the burn tool and go around the edges, when you get to the triangles burn till it's darker than the rest.

5. Now use the wave filter, Filter->Distort->Wave. Set the wave to:

You should now have something like this:
