1. Ok, new image, 300 x 300 pixels and a black background to start with.

2. Set white as your foreground colour.

3. Select the Custom Shape Tool, and from the toolbar choose the 12 pointed star (which is actually called Flower5 for some reason).

4. Draw a nice big one in the middle of your image.

5. Press Ctrl + E to merge the Shape layer and Layer 1 (or background layer) down.

6. Now use Filter > Sketch > Chrome, and you can alter your settings to make different shapes, but for this one i used Detail: 7, Smoothness: 7.

7. Next use Filter > Sketch > Conte Crayon with Foreground Level: 11 and Background Level: 10. Choose Texture: Sandstone, Scaling: 50% and Relief: 0.

8. For added effect use Filter > Distort Twirl on around 50 degrees, and there you have it!

Random Flowers

For different flower shapes try using different Custom Shape tools and varying your chrome settings.
