A longer and better way of making a screw than other sites - final result is bigger, and higher quality :)
1. Start off with a new image, 125px x 125px and a transparent background
2. Create a new layer, and name it Screw
3. Grab the circular marquee tool, and make big circle, just big enough so it almost touches the outside of the canvas
4. Fill this with #141414 but dont deselect!
5. Create a new layer, and name it highlight
6. Grab the airbrush, and use the following properties...
7. With white as your foreground colour, make firstly a curved image going round the left, then a smaller one on the right
8. Click Filter > Blue > Gaussian blur - with a radius of 6 - hit OK
9. Hold CTRL and press F to repeat this another 3 times
10. Hold CTRL and press D to select
11. Make a new layer called Bar
12. Grab the marquee tool, and put a vertical bar going down the middle of the screw, then fill this with #343434
13. Hold CTRL and press D to deselect
14. CTRL click the thumbnail layer Screw on the layer palate- hold CTRL + Shift and press I - the hit delete - then deselect
15. Duplicate the layer, Highlight- and Drag it above the layer BAR on the layers palate
16. CTRL click the thumbnail layer Bar - hold CTRL + SHIFT and press I - then hit delete
17. Hold CTRL + SHIFT and press I again, and click on the layer highlight on the layers palate - then hit delete
18. Go back to your "highlight copy" layer, and hold CTRL and click the thumbnail layer of BAR
19. Grab the marquee tool, and hit RIGHT on your keyboard twice and down twice
20. Click Select > Feather - with a setting of 3
21. Hold CTRL + SHIFT and press I - then hit delete 4 times
22. Hold CTRL and press D to deselect
23. Click Layer > Merge visible
Of course this screw is probabally too big to put on an image, i just like to make things bigger to make them easier to work with!
