Ahh, you seek the knowledge of the orbs? Actually on second thoughts, you're just another one of those who seeks the tutorial behind the orbs? Well i guess you've come to the right place!
In a few easy steps, you'll have a very nice orb that you'll be able to easily re create and use for anything you like. Let's get started!
Let's hit the tutorial with a new canvas, for the purpose of the tutorial create a 400x400 canvas.
Fill your background with white or grey, up to you!
Create a new layer, name it Orb. Select your Elliptical Marquee Tool and use these settings.
Click the canvas to bring up the selection, and fill this in with any colour. Deselect.
Go to the blending options for this layer and use these settings.
You should now have something which looks closely like this.
Now create a new layer, name it Blob. Get hold of your brush tool. Select a 200px round soft brush.
Set your foreground colour to #abd6ff.
Ctrl+Click your orb layer to select it. Now click inside the orb with your brush. You want to have about 1/4 of the brush inside the orb at the bottom. Look at the screenshot to see what you should get.
Create a new layer and name it highlight. Grab your elliptical marquee tool, use these settings.
Now click on your canvas to bring up the selection. While having your highlight layer active, grab the gradient tool. Set your foreground colour to white and use these gradient settings.
Now, while holding shift, click from the top of the selection and drag the line to about 3/4 of the way down of the selection. Release and deselect.
You should now have a nice highlight, centre it and move it near the top of the orb. You should move it like this.
There you have it! A nice and simple tutorial which yet again gives you a great result! Have fun!
