Ok this is my first tutorial I have ever made so I'm hoping that this at least helps a few people and teaches them something different from other tutorials. This tutorial will walk you through the making of the tag below. I choose this one because it has different techniques and also show you some techniques of the render.

Stock Manipulation Tutorial: Final Result

First of all I'm going to tell you what I did with the render before I started making the tag.

Select your stock wallpaper that your going to use. Duplicate ia and select the top layer. then Ctrl+U to bring up the Hue/Saturation option box and change the value of saturation to -100

Now for the layer masking of the stock. while having the desaturated layer selected, go to Layer>>Add Layer Mask>>reveal All. When this is done your two layers should look like this:

Now from here this is simple all you have to do is brush over the parts you want to show colour. Now remember that when brushing on a layer mask black erases and white reveals it again.

This is what i decided I wanted to show colour.

Note: I have three layers because I wasn't sure whether I wanted the hair to have colour so I wanted to see which looked best at end.
