Using Screws


First you must of followed out Metal Effect tutorial and the Screw tutorial. If you have then please read on, if not head back to the tutorials to read them.

Create a new document, I choose 300x300

Create a shape which is going to be the base for this tutorial. I used the polygon lasso tool to draw my shape. Fill the shape black.

Now we add the style we made in the Metal Effect tutorial.

Your image should now look something like this.

IF you have followed the Screw tutorial then you will know how to draw a screw. If not Click to view.

While holding down CTRL key. Select from the layers pallet, the layer which you screw is on. This will make a selection around the screw.

Make sure you do not press CTRL on this step. While the selection is still active, click on the layer with your BASE SHAPE on.

Now press the delete key. This should now give your screw an inset look.

Play around with the effect adding more or less screws. You could also experiment with layer styles adding drop shadows to improved the effect.
