Chrome Text Tutorial


STEP 1: Create a New Layer and add a Text selection area and Fill it with Grey using the Paint bucket tool

STEP 2: Click the Channels Tab and create a New Alpha Channel (using the icon ringed in red), Now fill your selection with WHITE this time

STEP 3: Deselect the Text and use Gaussian Blur at about 4 pixels to get the effect as shown. Now click the Layer Tab and click the layer with your grey text in it to select that as the layer to use in the next step.

STEP 4: Now go to FILTER/RENDER/LIGHTING EFFECTS and set something up as shown above. Making sure you have the Alpha Channel selected in the drop down menu as ringed in Red.

STEP 5: Now go to IMAGE/ADJUST/CURVES and set it up as shown above or play around to get your own effects.

STEP 6: You should end up with something like the above(Hopefully). I also added some drop shadow using LAYER/EFFECTS/DROP SHADOW.

STEP 7: If you want to add some colour reselect the text, and create a new layer above the text, fill the selection on this layer with a colour of your choice and change the layer properties to COLOR as ringed in red, and maybe take the opacity down a little.

STEP 8:You should end up with something like this, I hope you found this useful.
