Digital Text


We'll begin this tutorial, by creating a new canvas at a size of 300 x 155. Then unlock the background layer by double clicking the layer in the Layers Palette and choosing OK.

Now right click on the background layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Gradient Overlay".

You may now click OK.

You should now have the below image.

Next, select the "Rounded Rectangle Tool". Draw a rectangle as illustrated below with a radius of 15 pixels and color Black. Name this layer "Frame".

Now right click on the "Frame" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Drop Shadow".

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do.

Now click on "Inner Shadow".

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do.

Now click on "Bevel and Emboss".

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do.

Now click on "Satin".

Now click on "Color Overlay".

You may now click OK.

You should now have the below image.

Next, select the "Rounded Rectangle Tool". Draw another rectangle as illustrated below with a radius of 15 pixels and color 010040. Name this layer "Frame Window".

Now right click on the "Frame Window" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Outer Glow".

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do.

Now click on "Stroke".

You may now click OK.

You should now have the below image.

Next, select the "Rectangle Tool". Draw a rectangle as illustrated below with 010040 as the color. Name this layer "Pattern Frame".

Now, download this pattern that will be used in step 16 and click Open.

Now right click on the "Pattern Frame" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Pattern Overlay".

You may now click OK.

You should now have the below image.

Next, duplicate the "Pattern Frame" layer and download this pattern. Then change the Pattern as illustrated below. Name this layer "Text Pattern".

Now, download this pattern that will be used below and click Open.

Now right click on the "Text Pattern" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Pattern Overlay".

You may now click OK.

You should now have the below image.

Rasterize the "Text Pattern" layer. Using the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" rid the outside of the pattern on the "Text Pattern" layer as illustrated below.

The same technique was also used to rid the inside of the letters as above.

After deleting the remaining unwanted pattern I got the following.

I've added a few minor details here and there but the text effect is done. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
