This is what the finished product will look like:
Note that
- This tutorial Assumes you have knowledge of the basics of photoshop cs2, and
- This tutorial uses photoshop cs2, other photoshop will most likely work, but that's just what this uses.
Now let's begin
1. Start a new document, 500 x 500 px.
2. Write whatever you want, using a font size of 150pt, font shouldn't matter, but I used Times New Roman.
Your screen should now look similar to this(if it doesn't, that's amazing):
3. Click on the text layer to select it, then hold control, and hit E to merge it with the background layer.
4. Hold control, and hit A, then hold control again, and hit I to invert all colors.
5. Rotate your canvas 90° using image -> rotate canvas -> 90°CW.
Your screen should now look similar to this:
6. Add wind using Filter -> Stylize -> Wind
Method: Wind
Direction: From the left.
7. Hold control and hit F to repeat the wind.
8. Rotate your canvas -90° using image -> rotate canvas -> 90° CCW
Your screen should now look similar to this:
9. Trim your image by using Image -> Trim.
Based on: Bottom right Pixel
Trim away: Top, Right, Bottom, Left.
10. Type your word again, except make sure it's in black, it HAS to be the same size as the first word(150), and the same word(KoW in my case).
11. Move your text into the lower left corner, completely covering your first word, it should snap into place, if it doesn't, zoom in and line it up perfectly.
Your screen should now look similar to this:
12. Select your background layer, and use Image -> Adjustments -> Color Balance
Click midtones, it is usually selected by default.
type in the first box 100, and in the third box -29.
Click Shadows
Type in the first box 91, and in the third -59.
Your screen should now look similar to this:
13. Click the text layer above the background layer, and hit V to select the move tool.
14. Hit the up key on your keyboard to nudge it up 1 pixel.
Your screen should now look similar to this:
15. Hold control, then hit R to turn on rulers.
16. Hold control and shift, then hit ; to turn off snap.
17. Zoom in to about 250%, then click and drag on the vertical bar going across the top, and drag directly to the top of the text, use this picture as a guide to how to do it:
Your screen should now look similar to this:
18. Use select -> color range.
Your settings should be *exact* to mine.
19. Hold control and shift, then hit ; to turn snap back on. Select the rectangular marquee tool. Hold Alt(to subtract from your current selection), and drag a rectangle from the top right of the rectangle, to the intersection of the right side of the canvas and the light blue guide. The rectangle you drag should look similar to mine:
20. Hold control and hit H to hide your selection.
21. Select brush tool and select the brush on the top. For your brush width, use 84. Use ff0f00 for your color, or a darkish red.
22. Fill in all the white with the brush.
