Glowing Text Effect

Step 1:

- Fill the Background with the color #240000. Create your text using white color. The font used is Elegant, and the size is 250px.

Right click on the text layer and click Create Work Path.

image 1

- Create a new layer and rename it to "Stroke", then make the text layer invisible by clicking on the eye icon next to it. Set the Foreground color to #e89819 and the Background color to #fddd03.

image 2

Step 2:
- We are going to modify the settings of the brush used to create the stroke. So open the Brush panel (Window - Brush), and choose a hard brush. Change the Size to 7px and the Spacing to 150%.

image 3

- Under Shape Dynamics, change the Size Jitter to 100%.

image 4

- And under Color Dynamics, change the Foreground/Background Jitter to 100% as well. The other values should be set to 0.

image 5

- Now go back to the work path, grab the Direct Selection tool, right click on the path, and click Stroke Path. Choose Brush from the Tool drop down menu, and make sure that the Simulate Pressure box is un-checked.

image 6

- Hit Enter to get rid of the path, this is how the stroke should look like.

image 7

Step 3:
- Duplicate the "Stroke" layer, then change its (the original Stroke layer) Blend Mode to Pin Light.

image 8

- Make sure that the original "Stroke" layer is still selected, and go to Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur. Change the Radius value to 3.

image 9

- You should get a result similar to this:

Step 4:
Double click on the "Stroke copy" layer to apply the following styles:

- Outer Glow: Change the color to #9f9f28, the Size to 6, the Contour to Valley - High and the Range to 100.

image 11

- Inner Glow: Change the Source to Center. This will make the glow emanate from the center instead of the inner edges, which gives a really cool effect. Also, change the Size to 4.

image 12

- The styles applied should make your text glow.

image 13

Step 5:
- It's time to create the Background now. So let's start with the brush used:

- In the Brush panel (the Brush Tool should be selected), choose a big soft brush. The Size should be something around 70px, and the Spacing about 150%.

image 14

- Under Shape Dynamics, change the Size Jitter to 100%.

image 15

- Under Scattering, change the Scatter to 350%, the Count to 3 and the Count Jitter to 35%.

image 16

- For the Color Dynamics, change the Foreground/Background Jitter to 100%. Other values should be set to 0.

image 17

- Finally, for Transfer, just change the Opacity Jitter to 100%.

image 18

Step 6:

- Create a new layer under both Stroke layers, and rename it to "BG". The Foreground and Background colors should be the same as in Step 1. Grab the Ellipse Tool, and click the Paths button in the options bar, this will enable you to draw a path instead of a filled shape.

image 19

- Draw an ellipse around the text. Leave enough distance between the path and the text to avoid overlapping.

image 20

- Right click on the path, click Stroke Path, choose Brush and make sure the Simulate Pressure box is un-checked.

image 21

- Hit Enter to get rid of the path.

image 22

- Double click on the "BG" layer to add a simple Inner Glow, just change the Source to Center.

image 23

You can use the brush to add more sparkles if you think some areas are still empty. And this is the final result.
