6. Now go to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects...and adjust the paramters so that they approximately match the ones shown above. Click OK after you're finished.
7. Go to Select>Load Selection... and choose"my text" layer from the "channel" list, click OK.
Press Ctrl+Shift+I (Mac: Command+Shift+I) or go to Select>Inverse to invert the selection, then press Alt+Delete (Mac: Option+Del) to delete the selection..Deselect the selection.
Adding a Stroke
To make a stroke, make a new layer just below "my text" layer and name it "border". With your "border" layer active Ctrl+Click (Mac: Command+Click) on "my text" layer to make a selection. Choose Select>Modify>Expand, enter 1px for the value and click OK. Make sure your foreground color is set to black and press Alt+Delete (Mac: Option+Del) to fill the selection. Press ctrl+D (Mac: Command+D) to deselect it.
8. For more realistic metallic effect you may also modify the Curves by pressing Ctrl+M (Mac: Command+M) and playing around with the curve, it should give your text a nicer look if you play around with it for a while. looks like for the text below.
