In this tutorial I will put a twist onto my "movie in sig" tutorial and show you how to put a movie inside of text for a signature or other application. You will need to know the basics of manipulating movies in imageready so if you haven't read the movie in signature tutorial yet, check it out here.
What I would do first in this tutorial would actually be to prepare your overlay text in photoshop. Open a new document of your own size constrictions (I will be making a 350x125 image) and make sure it is transparent. Fill the background of the signature with black (you can use a different color if you would wish, but for this tutorial I will be using black).
Now select your text. You can use whatever text you would want for this, but the most important thing to keep in mind is the more area your text takes up now, the more your movie will show through later. Make your text box and write whatever you would like in it. Use the biggest font size you can fit inside of your box.
Now go to Layer, rasterize, type. We will be doing this so it is easier to manipulate the text. You may notice the text in the above picture did not fill up the whole box. What I will do is hit ctrl+t or go to edit, transform and then scale. Then I will stretch the font to fill up most of the box, but keep in mind you will want to leave a small area around the text so it has a distinctive starting and ending point.
Now, select the background layer. Then hold ctrl and select the layer with your text. You will notice it selected an outline of the text. After choosing the solid colored layer again if it isn't already selected, hit delete. You can also completely delete the text layer at this point also as we will no longer be needing it. You should be left now with a cutout of your text with a transparent background.
Finally, this is where you will need to check into the movie in sig tutorial if you haven't done so already. Again, you can find it here. Follow the steps in there to get your movie so its cut to the parts you want and ready to go. This time though when you get to the point where you will be adjusting the image size, uncheck the box that says "constraint proportions" and then enter in the size of your image from photoshop (again, mine is 350x125.) Now, switch over to photoshop. Take your image you had made with your text and hit ctrl+a to select all and then ctrl+c to copy it. Now, go to the top layer in your movie that is now in photoshop. Hit ctrl+p to paste this so it is now the top layer of your movie. Now simply switch back to imageready and your final result should look something like this.
