This is a very simple retro effect, This is part 1,This is only a three Stepper but I will be Stepping this one up a notch, but for now find some cool color schemes, All you need is two. lol, I'll use pink for this tutorial, "Pink - it's my new obsession, Pink - it's not even a question, Pink - on the lips of your lover 'Cause Pink is the love you discover"
Yes Pink rocks! Lets get started.
Step 1 : Ceate a document 500px x 250px then select a funky, bold, Hmm Hmmm.. a kind of retro font would be preferable, Then choose your text color.
Step 2 : Go to your layers palette and add a drop shadow withe the settings below. Keep in mind to use a darker shade than your text.
Step 3 : This Step Is the hard one, lol... o.k. Get ready for it! add a stroke with the following settings, also with this color, it is lighter than your other two shades...
Final Result: Nice and simple : )
