Rock Text


We'll begin this tutorial by downloading the below image and opening it in Photoshop. Once open, go to the main menu and select "Edit" then "Define Pattern." Give the pattern a name and click "OK." We will use this for our rock text.

Now create a new document at a size of 350 x 200 and select the "Type Tool." Select Verdana bold as the typeface at a size of 104 with the color set to black. Type "Rock".

Now that you have your text, you can now right click on the rock text layer and select "Blending Options...". Now click on "Pattern Overlay".Select your saved pattern.

You may now click OK.

You should now have the following. Next, duplicate the text layer and merge the two text layers together.

Now right click on the merged layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Drop Shadow".

Do not click OK yet. Still more to do.

Now click on "Outer Glow".

You may now click OK.

You should now have the following:

The Results!!!

I then used the "Eraser Tool" with a brush size of 12 and hardness at 24% to eliminate the rocks that were cut off. See below image for example. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
