Water Bubbles Text


This Photoshop tutorial teaches you to create metallic text in water with Bubble effect. The dimensions used in this tutorial is : width 300px, height 300px and resolution 72px.

This tutorial demonstrates the use of Pen Tool, Elliptical Marquee Tool, Brush Tool, etc. At the end of this tutorial you will be able to create text / image with watery effect and add bubbles to give natural effect. By this tutorial you will also learn to give Chrome effect to your text which gives a Metallic look.

Water Bubbles Text Tutorial: Final Result

Create a new document of dimensions 300 x 300 px with white background.

Select the Pen Tool (P) image 2 , set the foreground color to #d9dde2 and create shape as shown in the image below. (you can use any shape of your choice, I have used ‘A’). Name this layer as Base.

Right click on the Base layer and select Rasterize layer.

Select Blending Options from the layers palette image 6 and set the Drop shadow and Bevel and Emboss styles.

First Select the Drop Shadow option from the layer styles window and set the style as:

Blend Mode - Multiply
Opacity - 100%
Angle - 120 with global light
Distance - 10px
Size - 10px

Then select the Bevel and Emboss style option and set the style as:

Style - Inner Bevel
Depth - 1000%
Direction - Down
Size - 6px
Soften - 3px

Shading
Angle - -90
Altitude - 22
Gloss Contour - Valley Low

Highlight Mode - Linear Burn
Color - #d9dde2
Opacity - 100%

Shadow Mode - Linear Burn
Color - #969fbc
Opacity - 95%

Then select the Contour under the Bevel and Emboss Style. Set the Contour to Ring – Triple, check the anti-aliased check box and the range to 100%.

Next we will create the inner Gel layer with water bubbles. Press Ctrl and click on the base layer in the layers palette.

Goto Select > Modify > Contract.

Enter 5 and click Ok. Create a new layer image 12 .

Name the layer as Middle. Set the foreground color to #4444a1 and press Alt and Backspace to fill the color. Press Ctrl + D.

Select the Blending options from the layers palette image 15 and select Bevel and Emboss option from the layer styles. Set the style as :

Style - Inner Bevel
Depth - 970%
Size - 8px
Soften - 12px

Shading
Angle - -90
Altitude - 32
Gloss Contour - Cone Inverted

Highlight Mode- Screen
Color - #8391b6
Opacity - 85%

Shadow Mode - Linear Burn
Color - #e4e6ee
Opacity - 34%

Select the Gradient Overlay option set the Blend mode to Normal, Opacity 100%, Gradient as shown in the image below, Style Linear, Angle 107 and Scale 70-75:

Then select the Satin option and set the Blend mode to Multiply, color #617bb4, scale 50%, angle -45, distance 50px and size 73. Click on the Contour and set the points as shown in the image.

Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) image 20 and make circles as shown in the image below. You should click the Add to Selection from the Tool options bar to intersect 2 or more Circles

Select the Base Layer and press Delete. The select the Middle layer in the layers palette and goto Select > Modify > Expand enter 5 in the box and press Ok. Press Delete and then Press Ctrl + D.

Next we will create the bubble effect. Create a new layer. Select the Brush Tool image 24 and make some random water marks. Do not bother about the color.

Goto Filter > Sketch > Chrome, set the Detail as 5 and smoothness as 2.

Select the Blending options from the layers palette image 27 and select Drop Shadow option from the layer styles. Set the style as :

Blend Mode – Multiply, Color - # 14169c, Distance 1px and size 1px. Set the Contour to Gaussian.

Select the Inner Shadow. Set the Mode to Color Burn, color to # 00007d, distance 5 and size 10px.

Select the Outer Glow. Set the mode to screen, opacity to 50%, glow color to #d2d2d0, Spread and size 10px.

Name the layer as Bubbles and set the blend mode for the layer to Overlay.

Create a new layer. Set the foreground color to #ffffff, select the Brush Tool image 32 . Select a soft brush of 14px set the opacity to 50% and draw as shown in the image below.

Select the Blending options from the layers palette image 34 and select Outer Glow option from the layer styles. Set the Blend mode to Screen, Opacity 52%, color # f6f6f6, Technique precise, spread 53 ans size 10px.

Select the Bevel and Emboss option. Set style Outer Bevel, Technique Chisel soft, depth 1000%, size 128px, soften 16px. For shading options set the angle as 68, altitude as 5, Gloss contour – ring triple, highlight mode – screen, color - #ffffff, opacity – 38%, shadow mode – multiply, color - #ffffff and opacity – 75%.

Repeat the step 5 two times and create shade as shown in the image below.
