1. First of all create a new document, the size I will be using is 760x760 pixels.
Now fill the background with a color, I used the color #47433a.
2. Next thing to do is apply Filter > Noise > Noise with an amount of about 0.9.
Next thing to do is add some nice details to the background.
First we'll add some grunge to the background. Go to here and download the brushes.
With a random brush, brush a few times on a new layer, change the layer mode to Soft Light or Overlay and lower the opacity.
More grunge brushing:
And more:
A little more:
You should have something similar to this:
3. Now for the background I added a sort of stamp thing. I've written a tutorial on a similar effect before, you can find it here.
I made the stamp then lowered the opacity to about 30% and changed the layer mode to Soft Light.
Lastly for the background, I duplicated all of the layers into one (Layer > Flatten Image) then I applied the Lighting Effects filter (Filter > Render > Lighting Effects)
You should have a cool result like this:
4. Now add a rectangular box in the middle of the document for text and updates etc.
The color of my square was #716a5d but I lowered the fill to 40% and applied the following layer styles:
You should be left with a result similar to this:
Now add a Layer Mask (Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal All) and brush a bit on the corners with a grunge brush.
5. Now let's add some text to the template.
Start by adding the main 'Band Name' text at the top left. I used the font 4990810, 48pt, you can download the font from here.
I used #c9c4b8 with this Drop Shadow and Gradient Overlay.
My text looks like this:
Not bad huh?
Now you can add the copyright text under the main box. I just used Tahoma, 11pt, #5c584e.
Now let's add in the navigation text.
The font I used is called Cornet but I'm not sure if it's a commercial font or not. So find a nice Calligraphy kind of font and use that.
After I wrote out my texts (News, Tours, Discography, Biography, Gallery) I applied the following layer styles to them:
The fill opacity for each text layer varies, I used different fill opacity's for each text layer so it would be more interesting, more detail etc.
Lastly for the text I made a new layer and under the text and with the Line Tool I made an underline for each of them, the lines can be FAR from perfect!
I then applied a very similar layer style to them as the text layers.
6. See how we're going so far. Not bad so far.
Now head over to YotoPhoto and search for 'band', get some nice pictures and drag them into the template.
I resized my images then cropped them to 140x100, I then added two borders, a 4px light border on the inside, and a 2px dark border to the outside.
Next I added some filler text to the right of the images.
All I used was basic Tahoma, 11pt/12pt, light brown colors.
For a nice small touch, I added a few light grungy buttons under the filler text.
A nice final touch might be to add some photos at the top left, blend them in a little etc.
You can download the complete PSD file from here.
