Professional Layout

1. I used a new document of size 600 x 200 pixels and a #003366 background.

2. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool and set the radius to 10px. Don't worry about colours for now, anything will do.

3. Draw a basic outline for your site.

4. Right click on the Shape layer and select Rasterize.

5. Now Ctrl + Click on the layer, and fill it with white.

6. With the shape still selected, go to Select > Modify > Contract, by 5px.

7. Fill this area with a baby blue. I used #CEEEFF.

8. Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool again, with a radius of 5px. Draw up some buttons and apply a 1px Stroke to each of them (right click on each shape layer and select Blending Options).

9. Add some text over the top of them, preferably white.

10. Next add your title, and a subtitle if you wish. I used a white font and applied a Drop Shadow of 25% opacity, 2px Distance and 2px Size.

11. Oh, I also made a crappy logo, hopefully you can come up with something better =]

12. Now add a quick divider to seperate your header from your content. Create a new layer. Then use the 1px Pencil tool, and draw 3 lines on top of each other. A white one, a black one, then another white one. Set the opacity for this layer to around 10%.

13. Finally, add a drop shadow to your original shape layer. I used 75% opacity, 2px Distance and 2px size. Click on my final for the full size pic, good luck!
