This tutorial will teach you how to create a basic logo for your site splash page.
To begin, create a new image, 450px x 200px.
Create a rectange on the image.
Using the Polygonal Lasso Tool, cut the top corners off, and give the bottom points:
Change the foreground color to: #626F8C
Fill the shape with the color.
Now, go up to Select > Modify > Contract, and contract by 4.
Hit Delete.
Now create a new layer underneath this one.
Go back up to Select > Modify > Expand, and expand by 2.
Hit X, and then change the foreground color to #8E9FC4
Now fill in the shape with the foreground color
Go back on to the top layer, and add a Bevel And Emboss layer style.
Use these settings:
Now, add a Gradient Overlay layer style, use this gradient:
Use these settings for the overlay:
Now you should have something like this:
Create a layer in between the 2 layers, like so:
Hit D, then hit X. CTRL + Click on the bottom layer to select it.
Select Gradient Tool, and set the Gradient Style to Foreground to Transparent.
Drag the Gradient Tool from the top of the image, to about the middle.
You should have something like this:
Using the Elliptical Marquee Tool, draw a circle like this.
(Tip: Hold Alt while drawing the circle for an easier result)
Hit Delete.
Put some White text on a new layer below the Gradient layer.
Add an Outer Glow layer style, set it to white.
Now, Duplicate the text layer, flip it Vertical (Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical)
Now, add a layer mask (Layer > Add Layer Mask > Reveal All).
Using the Gradient Tool once again, Change the Gradient settings to Black, White.
Now drag from the bottom of the reversed text, to the top of the normal text.
You should have something like this:
You can add some more text if you want.
