Blossom Text Effect

Notes:

* the software used in this tutorial is Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended
* the size of the final result image is 1024 * 768
* you might want to check the Basix Page to see some useful topics on dealing with Photoshop basics, such as loading palettes and some shortcuts.

Resources:

* Leaves Brush.

Step 1:

- This effect needs a soft bright Background. So set the Foreground color to #e8e8e8 and the Background color to #8e8e8e, then, create a Radial Gradient starting from the center of the document to one of its corners.

- Create the text using the color #e085a5. The font used is "LTZapfino Two", (you can use a similar free font like Easy Street Alt EPS), and the size is 450px.

Step 2:

Double click on the text layer to apply the following styles:

- Drop Shadow: Change the color #e085a5, the Distance to 0, and the Size to something around 20px.

- Inner Glow: Change the Blend Mode to Overlay, the color to #f2d4de, and the Size to 10.

- Bevel and Emboss: Change the Depth to 735, the Size to 7, the Gloss Contour to Cove - Deep and check the Anti-aliased box for a smoother result, and change the Shadow Mode color to #e085a5.

The text should look like this:

Step 3:

Load this brush into your Brush panel (Window - Brush), and modify its settings as below:

- Change the Spacing to 100%.

- Under Shape Dynamics, change the Size Jitter to 100%, and the Angle Jitter to 100% as well.

- Under Scattering, change the Scatter value to 1000%, and check Both Axes box. Make sure that the Count is set to 1, but you can increase the value if you want more leaves scattered around the text.

- Finally, under Color Dynamics, Change the Foreground/Background Jitter to 100%.

Step 4:

- Create a new layer under the text layer and call it "leaves".

- Right click on the text layer and choose Create Work Path. Make sure to select the "leaves" layer once again so that it is the active layer.

- Set the Foreground color to #ffe3f2 and the Background color to #e90052. Then, right click on the path and choose Stroke Path.

- Choose Brush from the Tool drop down menu, and check the Simulate Pressure box.

Step 5:

- Change the "leaves" layer's Blend Mode to Overlay.

- Duplicate the "leaves" layer.

- With the "leaves copy" layer active, go to Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur, and type in 2.5 for the Radius.

- The blur will make the leaves look softer, so you can increase or decrease the Radius value as you like.

And that's it!
