Photomerge Tutorial

Introduction:

In this tutorial I will teach you how to merge different photos to make a panorama. A panorama is wide view of a large scenic area. Unfortunately, most cameras/lenses cannot capture the wide view of a large scenic area in just 1 shot, so that's what Photoshop is for. If you're ready, let's get started...

Step 1: Gathering Your Photos

In this step you are going to open all the photos you want to merge into a panorama. I would suggest only using 2-5 photos for best results. If you've opened all your photos then move on to the next step...

Step 2: Automatically Merging Your Photos

Go to File > Automate > Photomerge. In the Photomerge dialog box make sure the Use drop down menu is set to Open Files (Figure Below):

Also make sure to check the 'Attempt to Automatically Arrange Source Images' box (See Above). This will allow Photoshop to attempt to merge your photos automatically. If Photoshop cannot merge the photos automatically then it will display a warning dialog box. Press OK so you can then manually merge the photos.

Step 3: Manually Merging Your Photos

To begin manually merging your photos, you have to drag all the thumbnails from the top window into the main work area. If you need to, use the 'Rotate Image Tool' to rotate images for the merging. Also while merging, make sure to check the 'Snap To Image' box on the right. Also, if needed, check the 'Advanced Blending' box to reduce the effect of color differences in the difference images. Once you are done merging, click OK and the finished merged photo will appear. Now just save it and you're good to go! Use my screenshot below for further assistance:
