Photoshop Slices

1. Create a new 165x165 pixel document and name it Interface, or open up your interface you wish to slice up. If you chose to draw your own, just make a simple little interface like the one to the right.

2. Now you will want to select the slice tool, then drag it over the buttons. After you let go, you will see two slices, the one you dragged over, and the rest of the document. Not to worry, continue making your button selections and more slices will appear. Once you are all done, your image will have labels similar to mine.

3. Now you can also use the slice select tool, to resize slices that you made and you need to change. Once your interface is perfectly sliced up, we will save the image. Go File > Save For Web. A New window pops open. If you want a really good quality picture, you will want to select JPEG High from the Presets drop down menu, and change the Quality to 100. I personally like keeping filesizes as small as possible so the webpage loads fast. Click Save, and then you choose a filename, I named mine 'blah' and then when it saves, it makes a folder called 'images' with my 4 slices in it, [blah_01.jpg, blah_02.jpg, blah_03.jpg, blah_04.jpg].
