Whats about the red of the original color on the street?
I find the result mucht to dark, i would leave the duplication of the layers out.

For beginners thats a good tutorial who want to do it the "quick and dirty" way but for more professional use you should use other technices (e.g. selective color correction) and make a more precise selection of the object. Without front lights, without wind shield...
