Abstract Space Background

So, let's start! First of all create a new document sized 800x800 pixels. Select some appropriate colors for foreground and background, for example #00c0e2 and #001b20 and apply Filter > Render > Clouds:

After that apply another one Filter > Sketch > Water Paper with moderate settings:

Now we have an effect like this:

Then apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise with similar settings to these:

See the result below:

Now, time to add grid to our background. Create a new document with size of 4x4 pixels and draw a white pattern by using Pencil Tool as on picture below.

Then go to Edit > Define Pattern and save it as pattern. After that go back to our main document, create a new, then select the Paint Bucket Tool and fill the layer with new pattern. After that try to mess with layer mode and opacity. I used Soft Light and 80% opacity.

Ok, then apply another one Filter > Noise > Add Noise.

Now we have something like this one below.

Move to the next step. I think it will be good idea to add some space abstractions to the background. Use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to create rounded selection and fill it with white to transparent gradient on the new layer.

Remove selection with Ctrl+D and change layer mode to Soft Light. After that select the Smudge Tool (Brush: 45%, Strength: 80%) and make smears as was shown on my screenshot.

Then add two more abstractions.

We are done for now! Looks nice don't you think? Feel free to experiment!
