1. Open up your favourite picture of the most attractive women you'll never meet. I picked Jennifer Connelly.

2. Press Ctrl+L to toggle level change. Move both thye White and Black Arrow.

Until You have like below:

image 2

3. Now, press CTRL+U to toggel colour change, and change the colour. I used the following settings to give me a blue colour.

image 3

After you finish this, duplicate you layer by double clicking on it, and choosing "duplicate layer"

4. On your TOP Layer, do a filter>blur>radial blur using these setttings:

image 4

Press CTRL+F two times, to repeat this filter twice more.

Note, that i started with a grainy image to begin with, if you did not and this effect is not taking place in the way you want it to, please do a filter>noise>add noise and repeat step, you will see more "lines"

5. Now Set the Layer Blending mode of your top layer to screen, and select your bottom layer and do another level change such as in step2. This time try to focus on trying to make the blacks more prominent. I came out with this:

image 5

6. Now you must right-click the bottom layer, and duplicate it again. Then on the newly created layer (in the middle of your layers panel) change the layer blending mode to soft light. Then click on the top layer and press SHIFT+CTRL+E to merge all visible layers.

This should return something like this.

image 6

7. Now duplicate your only layer you have left. Set Blending mode to multiply then press CTRL+E to merge with original layer. I should add some depth and darken a little giving you somethig like this:

image 7

8. Now Create a new layer, and using the brush tool, with a 100px width soft brush:

image 8

You will need to draw an outline. Simply select WHITE as your foreground colour, and then draw an outline, doesnt need to be perfect, just around edge of the canvass should be no hard edges, this image will flow into the background. This is what mine looked like:

image 9

9. Now on your white border layer, add some filter>noise>add noise. just a little and then do radial blurs such as in was demonstrated in step 4.

After you have finished and you have sufficient "streaks" take your white brush again, and go over the outline yet again, but leaving the inside of your border instact, as to see the steaks you've just created, but taking out all hard edges on the edge of the canvass. This is what it should look like.

A subtle but nice addition.

10.Now we are going to add some abstract detail. We are going to create light flows as demonstrated in our other tutorial "LightFlow".

All you should do it take THAT tutorial, and then use your skills to create flows around the edge of her face.

Using Duplicated LightFlows, and flipping directions is an easy way to save time. After you have fiddled enough, this is what i COULD look like:

12. After you have added some text, you can come out with something like this.

A perfect splash, or header image:
