Fiery Background

1. Create a new document (640*480).

2. Fill the background with #000000 using the paint bucket tool and create 3 different 50-300mm lens flares (filter - render - lens flare - 50-300mm) and place them on your black background like this.

3. Now go to (filter - sketch - chrome) and use these settings.

4. For now, you should have something simple like this.

5. Now change the blending mode to lighten and duplicate the layer about 7 times. This step is a little bit complicated… You have to apply filters (filter - disort - glass, wave or ocean ripple) on all the dupliacted layers but not on the original layer and the last 2 duplicated layers! The 2 last duplicated layers I just mentioned need the twirl effect (filter - disort - twirl)… And if you put 100 in the first layer you have to put -100 on the second one (see screenshot below)!

6. You should have something like this after these first five steps.

7. And in the last stap we are going to merge all the layers we've just created and edited. To do this, select all your layers and then do this in your menu (layers - merge layers)… You should still have the same picture as before but now we can colorize them all together! So go ahead and (image - adjustements - hue/saturation) and use these settings (you can change it if you want ofcourse)…

8. Your picture is finished now but if you want to, you cann add some amazing effects by just duplicating you layer and by changing the blending mode on the new layer… You can find some examples here!
