Liquid Abstract

1. Start out with a new 300x300 document with a white background. Create a new layer, then using the Elliptical Marquee Tool, create various spherical cresent shapes. Once each shape is created, fill it in with any color. Then create another shape over part of the previous shape and fill it in white. This will create the desired cresent shapes.

2. If all of the layers with the cresents are not all on one layer, select the top layer and go to Layer > Merge Down (Ctrl+E) until they are all on one layer above the background layer. Next go to Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. Select Rectangular to Polar and click OK. Next go to Filter > Sketch > Bas Relief and use the following settings.

6. The colors in the image are strong and pronounced enough, but their too dark. To brighten the colors but still keep their intensity, copy the current layer and change the new layer's blending mode to Screen. (In the Layers palette, select Screen from the dropdown menu directly below the Layers tab.)Finally fix it up with some text.
