Molten Orb

2) Create a new Layer, and Add a filter>render>clouds (make sure your foreground & background colour are now black and white).

Then add a filter>sketch>chrome with 0 detail, and 10 smoothness.

Add make it red by using image>adjust>hue&saturation and it should look like this.

3) Now Duplicate the layer, and then on the original (bottom layer) add A filter>rener>3D Transform.

Click on the ball (red circle below) then then rotate and move (blue circle)the ball so that it shows the cell shaded side entirely.

Note: Try to place this as much in the middle as possible!

4) After you have added this cool sphere to the bottom layer (not your red background layer) click on the top layer, and change layer blending mode to difference. This will make everything black except for the ball.

5) Merge the top 2 layers now, and then use the magic wand with tolerance of 40 to select the black area, and press delete. now you have a terribly coloured orb.

Go to image>adjust>hue&sateration and change colour back to red. Duplicate the layer, and use the same technique to change this orbs colour to Orange.

Other then the layer names, your layers should look like this:

6) Now to make this a little more interesting. On the Red Layer, our an Inner Glow of Settings:

and an OuterGlow of:

6) Now we need to work with the orange layer. add some noise (filter>noise>addnoise) I used these settings:

After you have done that, add a filter>blur>radial blur using these setttings:

After Press ctrl+F three times.

7) Change layer mode of orange layer to overlay.

Some May want to stop now, but I like these last 2 steps.

8) click on your red orb layer, and do a filter>distory>sphereize, on -100%.

Then change the layer opacity to 65%

Press ctrl+F as many times as you want, to get right size. Should come up something like this if you add some text:
